HOMEWARD BOUND - Team Crossroads
A Publication of HIGHWAY MELODIES, INC.
VOL. 25 ISSUE 2 - DECEMBER 2011 Read PDF version

Once again we rejoice in our Savior's birth during this Holiday Season and Highway Melodies wishes you a blessed year and much joy in 2012. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your faithful prayer support and for your selfless giving. We are looking forward to 2012 and are excited about what God has in store for Highway Melodies. It is your prayers and gifts that encourage us to con-tinue to sow the seed of the word of God by placing the "truckers" New Testaments in truck stops across the United States. How exciting it is to hear from those who have had their lives changed through the Bible Studies requested and reading the Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12a is so true, “For the word of God is living and active…”

We praise God for 2011 and the many blessing we have received. It has been exciting to see Him provide in these very unstable economic times. He has also given us three new board members: Joe Oldenbroek, Steve Pothoven and John Miedema. This has brought new excitement and ideas to the mis-sion of Highway Melodies. We have, as in the past, lost some very special distributors but God has been faithful to replace them for the future distribution of His Word. We have seen God be so faithful this past year to this ministry and can trust Him for our future.

Soon it will be 2012. We are looking forward to the blessings God is going to pour out on this outreach. HMI Ministries is so thankful to all who are involved with our Bible distribution, Bible Study Correspondence and office management. And of course, we are also thankful to our faithful board members.

We have several new goals for 2012 that we believe are God's will for this ministry:

  • Expand the number of truck stops we serve. We are currently talking with a national company that has 385 travel centers. Please pray that God would continue to open that door for us for His glory.
  • Increase the number of distributors that we have.
  • Double our distribution.
  • Increase our volunteer base. We are currently looking for volunteers that have a heart for this minis-try to sit on the Board of Directors.
  • Increase awareness of the ministry in churches. We would like to present Highway Melodies to churches around the country to help raise support and to distribute Bibles at local truck stops.
  • Gain business support. We would like to get local companies involved with HMI as corporate spon-sors and to educate those companies on the value of Christian men and women driving trucks around the country.
  • Increase financial partnership for Bibles. In the past we have financed Bibles when we needed them. Then as the money came in, we would pay for them. This year we would like to pay for the Bibles when we order them. The minimum print cost has been approximately $30,000.00 a year. Would you please pray that God might use you to meet this goal through your faithful giving?

As the year comes to a close and we look forward to a new year, we are asking you to remember Highway Melodies Inc. in your year end giving. Because of your generosity, we will be able to send out more New Testaments and Bible Studies and be able to keep our office running smoothly.

Again, thank you so very much for remembering HMI – God bless you as you serve HIM daily.

Fall Festivities
The changing of the seasons is a very special time of the year. As the hot summer days turn to cool nights, and the leaves begin to turn their glorious colors, we turn to all the special activities that go on in the fall. One such activity is the Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show in St Ignace, Michigan - an annual activity that always sparks special interest of our board members. This is a golden opportunity to pass out Bibles to the many drivers and truck owners that attend this special occasion. The two day event brings visitors from all over to see the many trucks that are presented at the show. The night parade across the Mackinaw Bridge is something to marvel with all the lights and sounds as each truck crosses the bridge. This annual event draws our board members to head up to the upper peninsula with Bibles in hand. The opportunity to be able to share one on one at one central location is a joy for several of the board members. This year the board president, Jerry Ward, and our newest member, John Miedema, were able to take their families to enjoy this unique experience and reach out to others at the same time. What an awesome experience! Thank you gen-tlemen for being willing to represent Highway Melodies in such an special way.

As fall progresses there are many other activities that draw attention, but the number one occasion that has always been Highway Melodies biggest event of the year is their annual fund raising banquet. This year’s banquet was held at the Postma Center on Pine Rest campus. The event started with a fabulous meal catered once again by Brann’s Catering. They do an amazing job serving our ministry family. Following dinner, Bob Huls provided a ministry update. It is always exciting to see how God’s word continues to be distribut-ed across the United States. The amount of Bibles placed throughout the U.S., the number of willing distrib-utors, and the many locations for distribution are a proven testament to the blessings of God on this minis-try. The evening was highlighted with special music presented by Dennis Gwisdala. Everyone was chal-lenged to partner with HMI to help get God’s word in the hands of our nation’s truckers in an effort to make an impact for the Kingdom. We continue to praise the Lord for the success of this year’s wonderful event! We want to extend a special thank you to all who planned, attended, supported, or in anyway touched this ministry. Without you and your continued support, our ministry wouldn’t be where it is today.
We praise God for his blessings!
