About Us

HMI Ministries was founded in 1974 by an incredible Christian truck driver, Raleigh Huls, who had a calling from God to evangelize and witness to his fellow truckers. The purpose of this ministry is very simply, to spread the Word of God to our nation’s truck drivers and thereby help lead them to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

HMI Ministries was originally called Highway Melodies, Inc. because its founder had a tremendous singing voice (click to hear Raleigh Huls) and a CB handle of Songbird. After a humble beginning and early years of slow growth, HMI Ministries now reaches out to truck drivers through over 800 participating truck stops in all 48 contiguous states and parts of Canada. Today, HMI Ministries places many thousands of New Testament Bibles, nationwide, each year, through hundreds of distributors. These distributors range from active truck drivers to retired ones, from churches to truck stops, from individuals to organizations and businesses. God has allowed us to build a widespread network.

HMI Ministries also offers free individual and family Bible studies for those interested. And we offer individual evangelistic tapes and discipling tapes too. Plus, we have a video tape that we use to explain our ministry and help us raise funds. We can loan you a copy... just ask!

Everything we do and stand for in this ministry is focused on our mission statement of spreading the Word of God to our nation’s truck drivers through the distribution of special, New International Version (NIV) New Testament Bibles.

We accomplish this mission by purchasing our own special trucker Bibles from The Bible League of South Holland, Illinois (in allotments of 30,000 per printing), and then we release them at cost to hundreds of truckers, individuals, churches and businesses throughout the United States. These people and organizations then distribute the Bibles into participating truck stops, offering them free to anyone who will pick one up.
